Accounting Specialist

Stinebaugh & Company is looking for an AMAZING Accounting Specialist to join our team! Representing over 60 nationally known and respected heating, ventilation and air conditioning manufacturers, Stinebaugh & Company has been creating comfortable and healthy environments for Alaska’s institutions, businesses and industry since 1992.

Purpose of Position: The Accounting Specialist is an integral member of the accounting team and office staff who is responsible for processing accounting and sales information and providing backup accounting and administrative support in a fast paced, friendly and fun professional sales office environment.

Position’s Customers: Company employees and management, as well as customers and vendors. Excellent customer service is a must!! Essential Duties of Position:

  • Receive vendor invoices and process purchase orders and accounts payable transactions.
  • Prepare invoices to customers in required formats and process cash receipts and accounts receivable transactions.
  • Maintain sales commission spreadsheets.
  • Backup for payroll, general ledger and other backup support for the CFO.
  • Research accounting related questions for internal and external customers
  • Maintain project files.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Working knowledge of the accounting process, accounting skills, and experience in the preparation of accounting documents and with accounting software programs.
  • Strong team player with demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills and positive, professional attitude.
  • Attention to detail, ability to learn quickly, keep confidential information secure, and to work with minimal supervision.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Common sense and demonstration of next-step thinking.
  • Dependable with commitment to meeting various filing deadlines.
  • MS Office, including skills in higher level Excel utilities such as filters.
  • Sage 50/(Peachtree) and Microsoft Dynamics GP experience preferred.
  • Ability to operate 10-key by touch, fax, copier, postage machine and other office equipment.
  • Prior experience working in a sales office or manufacturer’s rep. office a plus.

Years of Experience/Education required to meet minimum qualifications: Two years of experience in accounting support capacity is required. An associate degree in accounting or another business field is required. Experience may substitute for degree.

Driving Requirements: State of Alaska Driver’s license required Physical Requirements:

Ability to perform sedentary work. Physical effort may include stooping, kneeling, touching, feeling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions. Clarity of vision to see near, mid-range, and color. Ability to lift and carry up to 30 lbs. Hearing is sufficient to perform job duties. Working Conditions: Work is performed in an office environment in a normal 7:30 to 4:30 work week. Additional hours may be required to include working additional time on weekends, holidays, evenings, and/or before work hours.
